Working for the weekend...

It was a great day here at the Kickstart corporate headquarters. I got a nice package in the mail from Biltwell Bill. I held my autographed copy of STRICTLY STREET STUFF by Bill Bryant Sr. I'll do a full review later but I can tell you this now, it is a great book. Get it. The other thing in the box was my long awaited set of FXRP Cop bags! The complicated and exhausting trading that took for me to get these is the stuff of legend. Let's just say it involved a coloring book and a cupcake. If that wasn't enough for one day I got an unexpected visit from east coast iconoclast and neo-luddite, Flatiron Mike. I finally got to see the Mule 2.0 in person. Great stance. Good details. If Mike wasn't from Connecticut I could say it was perfect. But I can't.

Jesse James’ Hydrogen Racer

I have heard about this project over the past few years. It sounded cool, but I didn't think it would ever see the light of day. Wrong again!

jesse_james_lsr_sized1

Motorcycle madman Jesse James has broken the land speed record for a hydrogen-powered vehicle, and he did it in a car that packs modern technology into a vintage racer more than 40 years old.The guy behind West Coast Choppers blazed across El Mirage Dry Lake Bed at 199.7 mph in a car he claims he spent “a couple million bucks” building. He’d been toying with the idea of an alt-fuel racer, but rather than start from scratch — as BMW did with the slick H2R racer that previously held the record — he modified a ’60s-era streamliner to run on gaseous hydrogen.“I think it’s way cooler to take an old hunk of shit that many considered useless and make it haul ass,” James told Wired.com. “It has built-in soul and history. Plus, it’s recycling.”

The Sidecar

I have learned a few things this weekend. The most important one is that there are people who love driving sidecars, and there are people who don't. I fall into the later category. Yes, sidecars are cool. Yes, chicks dig sidecars. I can't stand them. So I am selling it. Check out the GARAGE SALE for photos and details.

Da Greasebag!

Don't forget that the Greasebag is this weekend! Go find Grail and buy him a beer. He puts on a great event. We is sponsoring one of the bike show trophies this year, Grail wont tell me what the trophy is for, most likely the best power puff girls tribute bike, I can't wait to find out.

The Black Tibetans

I have been breathlessly waiting for the latest issue of DicE Magazine. Not for the usual reasons, bikes, broads and offbeat english humor. Issue 26's subscriber only bonus is the highly anticipated Black Tibetans 3 song EP. A little info for ya, The Black Tibetans is fronted by DicE Magazine's own Dean Micetich. Now I was looking forward to completely destroying Dean's confidence by tearing apart the EP bit by transplanted englishman bit. Unfortunately for me the EP is quite good. The first track is "wellitsarockandrollpartyonasaturdaynight". The first thing that strikes me is that Dean pulls off the song without sounding like the incurable lush that he is. It is just a good rock song with everyone in the band doing their jobs very well. The second track is "Outta my mind". Again, good song, good playing and as much as it pains me... good singing. "Fuckin' Hell" finishes up the EP with more of the same upbeat rock. I wish I could find something to make fun of, like Dean's haircut, but this is a damn fine rock and roll band. So visit the Tibetans site to find out where they are playing and go throw something at Dean. Just make it something light, ya know he is a skinny englishman and can't take much. Get DicE Magazine in THE SHOP.
